The auditor is elected once every four years, concurrent with the state's gubernatorial election and the U.S. presidential election. The incumbent officeholder is Matt Rosendale, who was first elected in November 2016 and took office in January 2017. The Chamber of Commerce of Montana monitors the work that the Auditor does.[2][3] Job of the AuditorThe Auditor of the state of Montana's job is similar to that of many other states. Through the Auditor, residents can renew insurance, apply for business-operating licenses, and other work that requires licensing through the state government. The auditor is an executive officer, being part of the cabinet of the Governor, and manages tax revenue.[4][5].
