The authors of the monument are the sculptor M. G. Manizer and the architect I. E. Rozhin. The monument has the status of an identified cultural heritage site.[1] History and descriptionIn 1940, according to the project of sculptor M. G. Manizer, a monument to Vladimir Lenin in Ulyanovsk was executed. The sculptor made a variant of this statue in 1958 for the central hall of the Soviet pavilion at the World Exhibition in Brussels, for which he was awarded an Honorary Diploma. After the completion of the exhibition, the All-Union Chamber of Commerce at the request of the Moscow City Council executive committee transferred this sculpture to Moscow. The statue was installed on the pedestal in front of the central entrances of the Luzhniki Stadium (at that time the Central Lenin Stadium). The solemn opening of the monument was held on April 22, 1960 — to the 90th anniversary of the birth of V. I. Lenin.[2] The eight-meter bronze statue of Lenin is mounted on a stepped pedestal of gray polished granite. Lenin stands with his head uncovered in a coat over his shoulders. The floors of the coat seem to be blown by the wind, forming folds.
