He served as the political deputy to the Minister of Interior, being appointed on 8 May 2001.[1] In the capacity, he also served as the head of Country's Election Headquarters until 2005. In October 2001, he was charged for "spreading lies and slander" by Iranian Judiciary.[2] In 2003, Moballegh questioned legal validity of the Guardian Council's appointments for liaison officer, cultural director, and election overseer.[3] In January 2004, he threatened to resign following disqualifications of parliamentary candidates, including 83 incumbents by the Guardian Council[4] and said he "will not hold such elections and will propose the Guardian Council hold the election itself".[5] References1. ^{{cite web|title=New Iranian elections chief|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/1308973.stm|publisher=BBC|date= 9 May 2001|accessdate=28 March 2017}} {{s-start}}{{s-gov}}{{s-bef|before=Mostafa Tajzadeh|rows=2}}{{s-ttl|title=Vice Minister of Interior for Political Affairs|years=2001–2005}}{{s-aft|after=Ali Jannati}}{{s-ttl|title=Head of Country's Election Headquarters|years=2001 presidential election2. ^{{cite web|title=Iranian minister indicted|url=http://gulfnews.com/news/uae/general/iranian-minister-indicted-1.427795|work=Reuters|via=Gulf News|date=21 October 2001|accessdate=28 March 2017}} 3. ^{{citation|title=Iran Report|url=https://www.rferl.org/a/1342745.html|publisher=Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty|access-date=15 May 2017|date=28 July 2003|volume=6|number=31}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Iranian Electoral Official Threatens to Quit|url=https://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/18/international/middleeast/iranian-electoral-official-threatens-to-quit.html|work=The New York Times|date=18 January 2004|accessdate=28 March 2017}} 5. ^{{cite web|title=Khatami claims end of Guardians row in sight|url=http://www.upstreamonline.com/hardcopy/940694/khatami-claims-end-of-guardians-row-in-sight|work=Upstream|date=30 January 2004|accessdate=28 March 2017}} 2003 councils elections 2004 parliamentary elections 2005 presidential election}}{{s-aft|after=Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi}} {{s-end}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Moballegh, Morteza}}{{Iran-politician-stub}} 6 : Living people|Islamic Iran Participation Front politicians|Union of Islamic Iran People Party politicians|People from Isfahan|Iranian Vice Ministers|Year of birth missing (living people) |
