Early lifeDas was born to Shyamlal Das and Gita Rani Das on 25 January 1959. CareerDas who has been involved with Bangladesh Awami League for over 40 years, has valuably contributed to the organisation's activities both on grassroot and national level. Emerging as a young student leader after the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975, he was elected as the VP of the student body of Government Haraganga College for two consecutive terms during the rule of dictator Ziaur Rahman. Later, he was made a member of the central executive committee of the Bangladesh Chhatra League. He also served as an assistant secretary of the central sub committee of Awami League and later as the Deputy Office Secretary of its central executive committee. He was elected to the National Parliament of Bangladesh as an MP in the 2014 general election from the constituency Munshiganj 3. He was appointed the Liberation War Affairs secretary of Awami League's central executive committee during its 20th council meeting on 2016.
