It is surrounded by Mullaghreelan Woods, a Coillte forest. History and archaeologyThe rath was mentioned in ancient Irish manuscripts in association with the Kings of Leinster: rí Raithleand (King of Reelan) is mentioned twice in Lebor na Cert.
