Shree banshidhar nagar ({{Lang-hi|श्री बंशीधर नगर}}) is one of the administrative block of Garhwa district, Jharkhand state, India. It is located 40 km towards west from District headquarters Garhwa. It is a Block headquarter in Bhawanathpur Bidhansabha.

History

Nagar Untari is a Royal estate which was once ruled by the Deo Family. Bhaiya Rudra Pratap Deo was the last ruler to have ruled the place. He was succeeded by his younger son bhaiya Shankar Pratap Deo. Bhaiya Rudra pratap deo had two sons bhaiya Ramanuj pratap Deo and Bhaiya Shankar pratap deo . Bhaiya Ramanuj pratap deo has four sons bhaiya Uday Pratap Deo, bhaiya vijay Pratap Deo, bhaiya chandracur Pratap Deo and late bhaiya Bhupendra Pratap Deo. Shankar Pratap Deo has five sons Raj Rajendra Pratap Deo,late Dharmendra Pratap Deo, anant Pratap deo, Mahendra Pratap Deo and late Virendra Pratap deo. Shankar Pratap Deo was former minister in government of bihar and multiple times member of legislative assembly. The family owns a magnificent fort in the city which is very near to shree bansidhar mandir and is a sight to view. The family still stays in fort and are actively involved in the state politics. Raj rajendra pratap deo, present family head, is former member of legislative assembly and Anant pratap deo is also former member of legislative assembly and currently involved in state politics.

According to 2011 census Shree banshidhar nagar has population of 49050. It has a population density of 352 inhabitants per square kilometre (1,440/sq mi). Its population growth rate over the decade 2001–11 was 28.9%. Nagar Untari has a sex ratio of 987 females for every 1000 males, and a literacy rate of 42.13%.
