National Supercomputing Mission is a proposed plan by Government of India to create a cluster of seventy supercomputers connecting various academic and research institutions across India.[1] In April 2015 government approved the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) with a total outlay of Rs.4500 crore for a period of 7 years.

Background

The mission was approved by Cabinet Committee on Economic affairs chaired by Prime Minister of India.[2] Currently there are four supercomputers from India in Top 500 list of supercomputers in the world.

  • Ministry of Science and Technology
  • Ministry of Information Technology
  • Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru[3]
