Newen Afrobeat revisits Fela Kuti's musical heritage. The word Newen means 'strength' in the Mapuche language.[1] CareerTheir first, eponymous, album was released in 2013,[2] followed by their second Newen plays Fela, released in 2017.[3] StyleTheir style finds its inspiration in the Nigerian Afrobeat of Fela Kuti and their répertoire does include some of Kuti's titles.
