HistoryThe station opened in November 1849 by the North British Railway. The exact location of the station is not confirmed, but the station was believed to have been at either side of Haseldean Lane. The nearby goods yard may have been adjacent to the site of the station, but there is little information. The station disappeared from the timetable in October 1852 so. It was presumed to have closed to passengers and it closed completely in 1859 or after.[1] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/n/newstead/|title=Disused Stations: Newstead|work=Disused Stations|accessdate=7 February 2017}} {{Historical Rail Start}}{{rail line |previous={{stnlnk|Melrose}}Line closed, station closed|next={{stnlnk|St Boswells}} Line closed, station closed |route=North British Railway Waverley Route |col={{NBR colour}} }}{{rail end}}{{Scotland-railstation-stub}} 4 : Disused railway stations in the Scottish Borders|Former North British Railway stations|Railway stations opened in 1849|Railway stations closed in 1852 |
