Early lifeFrancis was educated at Radley College and Downing College, Cambridge.[2] CareerFrancis was called to the Bar at Middle Temple in 1981, and became a QC in 2002.[2] He specialised in family law, and became head of chambers at 29 Bedford Row in 2002.[2] He was appointed as an Assistant Recorder in 1999, and as a Recorder in 2000.[3] In 2011, he was appointed as a deputy High Court judge.[3] He was appointed as a High Court judge on 3 October 2016, assigned to the Family Division.[4] As customary, he was knighted in the 2016 Special Honours.[5] In 2017, he ruled in the Charlie Gard case.[6] HonoursIn 2016, Francis was made a knight bachelor.[3] References1. ^England & Wales, Civil Registration Birth Index, 1916-2007 {{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Francis, Nicholas}}{{UK-law-bio-stub}}2. ^1 2 {{cite web|title=Francis, Hon.
