He was also a travel show host for a season of Watts World on the Travel Channel.[1] He previously worked for ABC News[2] for 20 years before joining CNN.[3] He is Scottish. Watt won two Emmy Awards, one for his reporting from Fallujah, Iraq in 2004,[4] and another as a producer for work in Darfur, Sudan.[5]

Career

Watt is from Jedburgh, Scotland. He did a feature on his hometown for the Travel Channel.[6] Watt began his career as a reporter for the Southampton Press newspaper[7] from 1995 until 1997.[8] Watt has a Master’s degree in Modern History from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland with a focus on post-war U.S. foreign policy.[7]

Watt worked at ABC’s London bureau beginning in 1997 as a desk assistant and tape librarian and spent 15 years there covering news in Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, Liberia, and the Middle East. He moved to Los Angeles with ABC News in 2012 to cover the entertainment industry.[3] His work has been honored with two Emmy Awards.[7] including one for breaking news story for his coverage of fighting in Fallujah Iraq in 2004.[8]

He hosted the short-lived Travel Channel show Watts World in 2015.[9] During its one and only season he visited locations including Cuba, Italy, L.A. including Venice Beach, Hamptons area of Scotland, Dominica, Mount Shasta, Albania, Denver in Colorado, Alaska, and Portland.[1][8][16]

In 2016 Watt conducted an hourlong interview with Ben Sherwood about the Emmy Awards show and other issues.[10]

He has also been a correspondent on Good Morning America and Nightline.[11]

Personal life

Watt lives in Santa Monica. He is married with children.[1] His wife was born in South Africa. His hobbies include cricket and rugby.[12]

Watt is a fan of the song Breezeblocks by alt-J and The Carpenters, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, and Belle & Sebastian.[13]
