The only caveat is that Jay can't buy anything from internet retailers. The film then follows Jay and Rob and the film crew as they travel south through the States visiting various second-hand stores and basements, some impressively stocked with mint-condition gaming relics. With online purchasing disallowed, Jay meets a world of persons sharing his enthusiasms, some who are more than happy to aid in his quest, while others comically get in the way. As his quest develops, the viewer is given a history lesson on Nintendo, and learns why this company's gaming software means so much to the filmmakers and the development of video gaming. Reception{{expand section|date=February 2016}}Robert Workman of Geek & Sundry points out that in Nintendo Quest, "the industry takes a backseat to instead focus on one man’s ultimate nostalgia trip, in a tale that’s just as much about the journey as it is the destination."[8] Mike Diver of Vice Magazine describes the film as "a documentary on collecting with a difference", noting it "focuses exclusively on the catalogue of the Nintendo Entertainment System, probably the most important games console of all time, responsible for righting the industry's course after a colossal financial slump in the early 1980s and ultimately becoming a fixture in more American homes during the decade of Ronald Reagan and Molly Ringwald than casual racism," and that "it features a fantastically passionate Nintendo fan at its core, one Jay Bartlett, a Canadian with Bowser and Bomberman in his blood."[9] References1. ^{{cite news|last1=Poladian|first1=Charles|title='Nintendo Quest' Is More Than A Treasure Hunt For Every NES Title|url=http://www.ibtimes.com/nintendo-quest-more-treasure-hunt-every-nes-title-2206769|accessdate=5 February 2016|publisher=International Business Times|date=1 December 2015}} 2. ^{{cite news|last1=Poladian|first1=Charles|title=The Quest to Get Every NES Game in 30 Days—Without the Web|url=https://www.wired.com/2015/07/nintendo-quest-movie/|accessdate=5 February 2016|publisher=Wired|date=22 July 2015}} 3. ^{{cite news|last1=Kuhl|first1=Sara|title=Southern Indiana gamer featured in Nintendo documentary|url=http://www.greensburgdailynews.com/news/southern-indiana-gamer-featured-in-nintendo-documentary/article_0f91ff00-0d26-51d3-8d7c-3aca0f97d4f5.html|accessdate=5 February 2016|publisher=Greensburg Daily News|date=8 January 2016}} 4. ^{{cite news|last1=Anderton|first1=Ethan|title=‘Nintendo Quest’ Trailer: Can One Man Buy All 678 Original Nintendo Games in 30 Days?|url=http://www.slashfilm.com/nintendo-quest-trailer/|accessdate=5 February 2016|publisher=Slash Film|date=1 October 2015}} 5. ^{{cite news|last1=Lascity|first1=Ethan|title='Nintendo Quest' Documentary Follows Every Gamer's Dream: Own A Complete Library Of NES Games|url=http://www.ibtimes.com/pulse/nintendo-quest-documentary-follows-every-gamers-dream-own-complete-library-nes-games-2028326|accessdate=5 February 2016|publisher=International Business Times|date=28 July 2015}} 6. ^{{cite news|last1=Workman|first1=Robert|title=Nintendo Quest (Movie) Review|url=http://readretro.com/reviews/nintendo-quest-movie/|accessdate=5 February 2016|publisher=Retro MAgazine|date=27 July 2015}} 7. ^{{cite news|last1=Robson|first1=Jeff|title=Nintendo Quest (2015) Film Review|url=http://www.eyeforfilm.co.uk/review/nintendo-quest-2015-film-review-by-jeff-robson|accessdate=5 February 2016|publisher=Eye For Film|date=9 October 2015}} 8. ^{{cite web|url=http://geekandsundry.com/nintendo-quest-documentary-tells-a-story-of-completion-and-heart/ |title=Nintendo Quest Focuses On Game Collecting |author=Robert Workman |accessdate=2016-01-11 |publisher=Geek and Sundry}} 9. ^{{cite news|last1=Diver|first1=Mike|title=Understanding the Retro Gaming Road Movie of ‘Nintendo Quest’|url=https://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/understanding-the-retro-gaming-road-movie-of-nintendo-quest-825|accessdate=5 February 2016|publisher=Vice Magazine|date=26 October 2015}} External links
