The station is named for the Nizhegorodsky District in Moscow. The named was changed prior to opening from Ryazanskaya.[1] Nizhegorodskaya will offer free out-of-station transfers to Nizhegorodskaya Ulitsa, a planned station on the Bolshaya Koltsevaya line and Nekrasovskaya line.
