College careerDuring his sophomore season at Iowa, Fant tied the national lead for touchdowns by tight ends with 11, and led the nation in yards per catch, averaging 16.5.[1] Fant's 11 touchdown receptions set a school record for touchdown catches by a tight end.[2] Fant's efforts garnered him Third Team All-Big Ten honors for the 2017 season. Prior to the 2018 season, Fant was named a preseason All American.[3] On November 30, 2018, Fant announced that he was declaring for the upcoming NFL draft after leaving his team amid frustrations about his role.[4] StatisticsSource:[5]
Personal lifeOn May 25, 2017, Fant was threatened by a man with a handgun in a public park in Omaha.
