HistoryThe station opened in 1836 by the Clarence Railway at the junction between its two eastern branches to {{rws|Port Clarence}} and North Shore Staithes. The station was poorly located for the village of Norton and so it closed to both passengers and goods traffic in 1877 by the North Eastern Railway to be replaced by Norton-on-Tees station, a short distance to the east along the Port Clarence branch.[1] References1. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4299872|title=Norton Junction railway station (site), County Durham|work=Geograph|accessdate=4 July 2017}} External links{{Historical Rail Start}}{{rail line |previous={{rws|Stockton (Clarence)}}Line and station closed|next=Carlton Line and station closed|route=Clarence Railway|col={{NER colour}} }}{{s-end}}{{closed stations County Durham}}{{NorthEastEngland-railstation-stub}} 5 : Disused railway stations in County Durham|Former North Eastern Railway (UK) stations|Railway stations opened in 1836|Railway stations closed in 1877|1836 establishments in England |
