Novo Isioro (born February 9)[1] is a Nigerian documentary photographer, image and reputation Consultant, and Photography Instructor [2] who is currently the Presidential Special Assistant on Visual Communication and the Official Photographer to the Vice President of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN.[3] making her the First Female Presidential Documentary-Photographer in Nigeria.

Novo Isioro was born in Ogba, Lagos, and raised in a middle-class family.[4] She landed her first Job at age 17 just after her high school education and at age 25 she became the CEO of NOVOIMAGES (a photography and image management company located in Lagos, Nigeria).

Novo is the only daughter of Mr Dennis Isioro, who is from Isoko-North Local Government Area in Delta State (of blessed memories) and Mrs Juliana Adesuwa Isioro, from Edo State with two older siblings. Her father who fondly calls her ‘Novo’ was an Engineer and her mother a farm produce businesswoman.

Early life and education

Growing up was both pretty and critical for the most part of her life. The experiences helped in shaping her core values on hard-work and diligence. In 2003, she earned her high school certificate from Shepherdhill Baptist Girls High School in Obanikoro, Lagos. In 2005 she was qualified for an admission at the University of Lagos to study Industrial Relations and Personnel Management (IRPM) but forfeited the pursuit as that period of her life held so much emotional challenges that completely disrupted her ability of a clear institutional choice, as her father's life kept disappearing and reappearing right before her very eyes as a result of a severe fire accident that took place in the dead of the night at his residence in Lagos. She only realised the consequences of her decision to forfeit the admission process just after the admission was over. She quickly opted for her 2nd option in 2005 to study Bilingual, Office Technology & Management from the prestigious Yaba College of Technology and 2010 graduated with an Upper Credit. Not wanting to settle for a Higher National Diploma due to degree discrimination, she proceeded to earn a certificate in Public Relations in 2009 from Nigeria Institute of Public Relations just before her college graduation. She proceeded to Anambra State in February 2011, where she started and completed her 1-year National Youth Service Corps exercise, teaching French in Amuobia Secondary School, Awka South Local Government Area. She describes this period as one of the most fulfilling periods of her life, as she was able to connect with her deepest and truest self while having a clear understanding of what and how she wanted to launch her presence in the world. In 2016 she was awarded a scholarship to study Entrepreneurial Management at the Enterprise Development Centre (LBS) of the Pan Atlantic University.

Photography

She is the Founder and Visionary of ANISZA Foundation, the convener of ANISZA project - Nigeria's First Ever Unity Photography Exhibition. A project focused on bringing knowledge to young Nigerians who often are unaware of the unity stories of Nigeria.[5][6] She actively got involved in photography in 2012. She says Photography for her started as something of an essence and not centred around passion. Although aware of the fact that documentary photography held no form of clear success path in Nigeria at a time but she continued, as she only thought it was going to be a part-time job. The story soon changed as her interest grew. She participated in several photography workshops and master-classes around the world, having a life principle of "whatever one decides to put one's time, excellence must be the result".

Her documentary works often explores the relationship she has with herself and her society, which is largely influenced by social issues; and the need to emphasize reality, historical events, and in a way, uses them to tell stories about the dynamism and concept of being, existence, and passing times.

Novo's 2012 documentary series “the corporate life of a market woman” led her to the screens of Al Jazeera;[7][8] airwaves of BBC –the strands;[9] and feature stories in Le-Monde, Paris; Tarkett, Paris,[10] etc.

Work with the Nigerian Government

Novo Isioro was appointed as Special Assistant on Visual Communication to the President, under President Muhammadu Buhari administration. A role she actively carries on with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, as his Personal Photographer since 2016 till date.
