It was built in 1886-1887 for A. J. Nowlan, a grocer.[2] In 1909, it was acquired by Charles Henry Dietrich, who had served as the 11th Governor of Nebraska in 1901 and a United States Senator from Nebraska from 1901 to 1905.[2] Dietrich and his second wife, Margretta, remodelled the house significantly.[2] It remained Governor Dietrich's primary residence until his death.[2] The house has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since April 17, 1979.[1] References1. ^1 {{NRISref|version=2013a}} {{commons category|Nowlan-Dietrich House}}{{National Register of Historic Places}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Nowlan-Dietrich House}}{{Nebraska-NRHP-stub}}2. ^1 2 3 {{cite web|url={{NRHP url|id=79001432}}|title=National Register of Historic Places Inventory/Nomination: Nowlan-Dietrich House |publisher=National Park Service|author= |date= |accessdate=March 12, 2019}} With {{NRHP url|id=79001432|photos=y|title=accompanying pictures}} 2 : National Register of Historic Places in Adams County, Nebraska|Houses completed in 1886 |
