The title was established on June 18, 2018 during the first night of the 2018 United Kingdom Championship Tournament. Rhea Ripley was the inaugural champion. Toni Storm is the current champion in her first reign. HistoryOn June 18, 2018, during the first night of the United Kingdom Championship Tournament, the NXT UK Women's Championship, along with the NXT UK Tag Team Championship, was announced for WWE's NXT UK brand.[1] Afterwards, a two-day eight-woman single-elimination tournament was scheduled to crown the inaugural champion during the first tapings of NXT UK.[2][3][4] The championship belt was revealed on the August 25 tapings.[4] The following day, Rhea Ripley defeated Toni Storm in the tournament finals to become the inaugural NXT UK Women's Champion (air date November 28).[5][6] Inaugural tournament{{8TeamBracket-NoSeeds|RD1=Quarterfinals NXT UK (8/25; aired 11/14 and 11/21) |RD2=Semifinals NXT UK (8/26; aired 11/21) |RD3=Final NXT UK (8/26; aired 11/28) | RD1-team1 = Dakota Kai | RD1-team2 = Nina Samuels | RD1-score1 = Pin | RD1-score2 = | RD1-team3 = Rhea Ripley | RD1-team4 = Xia Brookside | RD1-score3 = Pin | RD1-score4 = | RD1-team5 = Jinny | RD1-team6 = Millie McKenzie | RD1-score5 = Pin | RD1-score6 = | RD1-team7 = Toni Storm | RD1-team8 = Isla Dawn | RD1-score7 = Pin | RD1-score8 = | RD2-team1 = Dakota Kai | RD2-team2 = Rhea Ripley | RD2-score1 = | RD2-score2 = Pin | RD2-team3 = Jinny | RD2-team4 = Toni Storm | RD2-score3 = | RD2-score4 = Pin | RD3-team1 = Rhea Ripley | RD3-team2 = Toni Storm | RD3-score1 = Pin | RD3-score2 = }} Championship belt designThe championship is nearly identical to its male counterpart, the WWE United Kingdom Championship. Like the United Kingdom Championship, the center plate is modeled after the United Kingdom's royal coat of arms, featuring a lion and a horse (instead of the traditional unicorn) on either side of the arms. One notable difference is that the center plate on the women's championship has the NXT UK logo inside of the shield instead of just the WWE logo like the men's title has; atop the shield are the crown jewels.[4] Above the arms is a banner that reads "United Kingdom", directly below the shield is a banner that reads "Women's", and below that is a banner that reads "Champion". Like the men's belt, the women's features two side plates, both separated by gold divider bars, with removable round sections that can be replaced with the current champion's logo; the default plates feature the WWE logo on the globe. Like the Raw Women's Championship and SmackDown Women's Championship, the plates of the NXT UK Women's Championship are on a white leather strap and the belt is smaller than the men's.[7] ReignsAs of {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTDAY}}, {{CURRENTYEAR}}, there have been two reigns. Rhea Ripley was the inaugural champion. Ripley is the longest reigning champion at 139 days, however, due to tape delay, WWE officially recognizes her reign as lasting 44 days, with Toni Storm having the shortest reign at {{age in days|January 12, 2019}}+ days. Ripley is the youngest champion when she won the title at the age of 21 while Storm is the oldest at 23. The current champion is Toni Storm. She defeated Rhea Ripley on January 12, 2019 at Blackpool in Blackpool, England. {{Professional wrestling title history top|active=yes|days2=yes}}{{PWtitlereign|number = 1 |champion = Rhea Ripley |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|August 26, 2018}} |days = {{age in days|August 26, 2018|January 12, 2019}} |days2 = {{age in days nts|November 29, 2018|January 12, 2019}} |location = Birmingham, England |event = NXT UK |notes = Defeated Toni Storm in the tournament final to become the inaugural champion.
