Developed by the Housing and Development Board (HDB), the development was built as part of a new generation of neighbourhood centres, housing the Punggol Polyclinic, a retail component with restaurants and shops, a community plaza and a rooftop community garden.[3] BackgroundOasis Terraces was announced in October 2015 by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) as part of two new neighbourhood centres in Punggol, the other one being Northshore Plaza.[4] Built beside the waterway, construction began on August 22, 2015 and was completed in June 2018.[5] It has a total of {{convert|295,000|sqft|m2}} of gross floor area, with a retail area of {{convert|193750|sqft|m2}} spread over 5 storeys and the polyclinic occupying 4 levels.[6][7] FacilitiesFronting the Punggol Waterway, Oasis Terraces features a sheltered community plaza, for community events and recreational activities for residents living within the vicinity. A dedicated pedestrian walkway through the development allows direct access to the Punggol Waterway, while covered walkways will connect the development to the Oasis LRT station and neighbouring blocks.[8] The mall located within Oasis Terraces also provides residents with various dining, fashion, entertainment and amenities. Punggol PolyclinicOpened on November 24, 2017, the Punggol Polyclinic is the 19th polyclinic in Singapore and is the 10th under the SingHealth group.[9] Other than outpatient medical care, the polyclinic also offers X-ray, physiotherapy, podiatry services and women health services such as screening for cervical and breast cancer.[10] The polyclinic is also the first in the country to have an automated pharmacy and is also the first to pilot an after care programme specially for new mothers with gestational diabetes mellitus.[11][12] DesignOasis Terraces is designed with sustainability and green building as its key influence and is connected through green ramps and terraces. The runoff from these ramps and terraces are treated through the bioretention system designed to integrate into the landscape. The treated sewage from the building then will be harvested for use in auto irrigation of the trees and plants located on the green ramps and terraces. Other green features include rainwater harvesting, sensor-activated fans and solar-ready roofs.[13] The project won an award in the Experimental - Future Project category at the World Architecture Festival in 2015 for its design and features.[14] GallerySee also
