Hunt & Associates.[1][2][3] The boat was built by O'Day Corp. in the United States, with 2898 completed between 1975 and 1984, when production ended. It was one of the company's most successful designs.[1] DesignThe O'Day 25 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim. It has a masthead sloop rig, a transom-hung rudder and a fixed fin keel or centerboard. It displaces {{convert|4007|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|1825|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast.[1][2] The boat has a draft of {{convert|4.50|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the standard keel, while the centerboard-equipped version has a draft of {{convert|6.00|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the centerboard down and {{convert|2.25|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the centerboard up.[1] The boat is usually fitted with an outboard motor but a Japanese Yanmar diesel engine was an available factory option.[1] The boat has a hull speed of {{convert|6.14|kn|km/h|2|abbr=on}}.[2] Variants
