Open Fiber S.p.A. formerly known as Enel OpEn Fiber S.p.A. is an Italian telecommunications company. Open Fiber was established in December 2015, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Italian energy company Enel, in order to build an independent fibre-based access network. In July 2016 the company acquired Metroweb Italia from F2i First Fund and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, a private equity fund and a sovereign wealth fund respectively. However, CDP also acquired 50% stake in Open Fiber.[1] In 2018, Open Fiber signed an agreement with Sky Italia, which the latter would use Open Fiber's fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network to deliver its content.[2] References1. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.enel.com/en-GB/Pages/media/press/detail.aspx?source=investors&id=955&title=ENEL%20ACCELERATES%20ON%20BROADBAND%20WITH%20METROWEB%20ACQUISITION&curPage=1|title=ENEL ACCELERATES ON BROADBAND WITH METROWEB ACQUISITION|date=28 July 2016|access-date=28 August 2016|publisher=Enel}} {{dead link|date=August 2018}} 2. ^{{cite press release|url=https://markets.ft.com/data/announce/detail?dockey=1323-13587701-0IMQN412VPTO3859TIM22I1QHJ|title=Sky Italia and Open Fiber agree long-term deal|newspaper=Financial Times|agency=RNS|publisher=Open Fiber, Sky Italia|date=30 March 2018|accessdate=6 August 2018}} External links
