It starts at Finnerty Street, crosses High Street and ends at Knutsford Street, at the north eastern corner of Fremantle Prison. It has significant heritage properties on its route, such as the Fremantle Arts Centre on the corner with Finnerty Street,[1] and other historic buildings, such as Samson House, on the corner of Ord and Ellen Street.[2] In 1946 the Fremantle Bakery was constructed in Ord Street.[3] Ord Street was named after Sir Harry Ord, the Governor of Western Australia from 1877 to 1880.[4] Notes1. ^{{Citation | author1=Stacey, Wes (Wesley) | title=Lunatic Asylum, corner of Ord and Finnerty Streets, Fremantle, Western Australia, ca. 1970, 1 | publication-date=1968 | url=http://trove.nla.gov.au/work/152215784 | accessdate=17 March 2017 }} {{Fremantle-stub}}{{WesternAustralia-road-stub}}{{WA road routes2. ^ Samson House 3. ^{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article78215703 |title=Fremantle Gets £3500 Bakery |newspaper=The Daily News |volume=LXIV, |issue=22,359 |location=Western Australia |date=6 December 1946 |accessdate=17 March 2017 |page=10 (CITY FINAL) |via=National Library of Australia}} 4. ^{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article46304312 |title=PERTH NAMES. |newspaper=The West Australian |volume=55, |issue=16,429 |location=Western Australia |date=25 February 1939 |accessdate=17 January 2017 |page=7 |via=National Library of Australia}} |route=State Route 12 |shield={{AUshield|S|12}} |roads={{WA road routes/R|12}} }} 1 : Streets in Fremantle |
