He is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.[2] He is the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Labis constituency since 2018. He was the Johor State Legislative Assemblyman for Bekok for one term from 1990 to 1995 previously.
