}}Faridur Rahaman better known as Pantho Rahaman (11 September 1980) is a journalist of Bangladesh. He has received the National ICT Award for the year 2017, for his special contribution in ICT journalism.[1][2][3][4]

Early life

Rahman was born in Rajbari District. His father's name is Mohammad Harun ur Rashid and mother's name is Tahmina Rashid. Only sister's name is Laboni Afroz.

Education

He was started primary education in St. Xavier's but started studying mainly in Khulna's HRH Agakhana School. After spending three years there, he returned to the palace of his father's job area and was admitted to Rajbari Government Primary School in the middle of the year. He studied at Rajbari Government High School (which is locally known as Rajbari District School) from Class IV to SSC. Later, he completed his HSC from Rajbari Government College and B.Sc in Institute of Leather Engineering and Technology, University of Dhaka.

Work

Rahman's informal career started from college life. He started his career as the Rajbari district correspondents on weekly Robbar. He also worked as a freelancer in a number of daily newspapers. Besides, he has also worked as a feature writer for weekly Jaijaidin. After starting work as a contributor to the Daily Muktokantha, the work started as a contributor to the Daily Prothom Alo. Alongside the feature reporting, he worked as a writer and editing assistant for the regular science pages. He had been involved in the operation since October 1998 with Prothom Alo. In addition to working as a feature reporter, editing assistant in different sections, Rahman worked as the Coordinator of the Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Volunteers (MOVers) team. In 2006, he started his work in television journalism. That time he starts working with Channel I as the sports journalist. As a sports journalist, he covers Asian Games, Olympics, Cricket World Cup, Commonwealth Games etc. He is involved in politics, economy, air and tourism, culture, communications, health, law and crime reporting, but he is regularly associated with Information technology and telecommunications, environmental and river-related journalism. Later on joined public administration and diplomatic affairs journalism. [5]

Organization

He has been elected two times as general secretary of Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB), a diplomat journalist organization in Bangladesh. [6] [7]He is also the member of Bangladesh ICT Journalist Forum (BIJF). This is the only ICT journalist organization of Bangladesh.
