Patrick James Stirling FRSE LLD (1809–1891) was a 19th century Scottish lawyer and author on law and economics. He was the leading lawyer in western Perthshire. LifeHe was born at Dunblane in 1809, the son of Robert Stirling (1765-1817) and his wife, Mary Graham (d.1846). He appears to be related to the Stirlings of Kippendavie.[1] He studied Law at St Andrews University and Edinburgh University. In 1848 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, his proposer being James Haldane. He was awarded an honorary doctorate (LLD) by St Andrews University for his literary works.[2] He died on 23 March 1891. FamilyIn 1836 he was married to Katherine Murray (b.1806).[3] Publications
