}}Peter Michael Jory (born 4 February 1974) is a British sport shooter[1] who works as an engineer. He has competed for Guernsey in four Commonwealth Games, with his best results coming in 2002 where he finished 7th in the Fullbore singles event and 4th in the Fullbore pairs event alongside Nick Mace. He finished 4th again in the pairs event in 2010, shooting alongside his brother, Adam Jory.[2]{{TOClimit|3}}

Early life

Born and raised in Guernsey, Jory was educated at Elizabeth College and began shooting through the school's Combined Cadet Force.[3] He represented the school at the schools' championships at Bisley and was a member of the 1989 team that won the Ashburton Shield, the only time in the school's history. Jory was a member of the British Cadet Rifle Team, more commonly known as the Athelings, for their tour to Canada in 1992.[4] He graduated from the University of Southampton with a degree in Engineering.[2]

Shooting career

Jory is the former captain of the Guernsey Rifle Club,[5] and has represented Guernsey a number of times at international level at the NRA Imperial Meeting in the Overseas, Kolapore and Mackinnon international matches.[6][7] In 2001, Jory set the record individual score in the Mackinnon, scoring 100.17v, though this has subsequently been matched by Ed Jeens in 2010 and Alwyn McLean in 2013.[8][9]

Jory won two silver medals at the 2003 Island Games in both the individual and pairs fullbore rifle shooting events.[10]

He has competed for Guernsey at the 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games in the Fullbore rifle events, namely the Queen's prize pairs and the Queen's prize individual competitions. His best results came in 2002 where he finished 7th in the Fullbore singles event and 4th in the Fullbore pairs event alongside with Nick Mace. He finished 4th again in the pairs event in 2010, this time shooting alongside his brother, Adam Jory.[11]
