}}Peter Sceats is a British businessman and politician. He founded the commodity price indices upon which all Atlantic basin coal trade is based and all European power stations are valued.[1] The coal indices he founded currently benchmark around $300 billion in international trade.[2] He founded the Grand Union Water Company in 2016 [3] is now Head of Risk Management for the trading arm of uranium miner KazAtomProm, the world's largest energy company as measured by energy value. Early lifeSceats was born in Woodford, then in the county of Essex, the son of publican parents and was educated at local primary and comprehensive schools. He suffered from a debilitating stammer in childhood. PoliticsSceats was an active campaigner for Vote Leave in the EU referendum of 2016 and stood as a prospective UKIP councillor at that time. He left UKIP shortly thereafter and stood as an independent in his home ward of Brizes & Doddinghurst in the 2016 council election, coming second to the winning the Conservative candidate but beating the Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green Party candidates. Personal lifeHe has one son and two daughters and lives in Essex and Zug Switzerland with his partner Bernadette. He is a keen amateur singer/songwriter and wrote the charity singles Boxing Day Lazy [5] and Lillian's Theme [6] for Haven House Children's Hospice and the Stairway to Heaven Memorial Trust, respectively.
