Several communities in the Philippines has wine making traditions which dates back before the islands' colonization by the Spanish in the 16th century. Among the wines produced in the Philippines is the tuba which is produced from coconut saps or nipa palms. Lambanog is the distilled version of tuba by the Tagalogs. Examples of Philippine wine derived from rice is the pangasi by the Visayans and tapuy by the Igorots.
