词条 | Philip Porcher House |
释义 |
The Philip Porcher House was built on what had previously been part of a 34 acre plantation located outside the city limits of Charleston, South Carolina.[1] The lands passed to Isaac Mayzck and then, after his death in 1735, to his son, Isaac Mayzck II.[1] The younger Isaac Mayzck gave land at the corner of Archdale and Magazine Streets to his daughter, Mary Mayzck Porcher, for her and her husband, Philip Porcher, to build a house.[1] The house they built is similar to plantations of the time, built on a high foundation. Unlike similarly styled houses of the time, the house has two drawing rooms on the first floor rather than locating one on the second floor.[1] Instead, there are four bedrooms on the second floor.[1] References1. ^1 2 3 4 {{cite news | url=http://www.genealogybank.com/doc/newspapers/image/v2%3A13CCA871AD118D5A%40GB3NEWS-15830EF50C833970%402428678-158117A11EDD0262%409-1583A1CB9D94E810%40?search_terms=do%20you%20know%20your%20charleston%7Chouse&s_dlid=DL0116040215594719042&s_ecproduct=SUB-Y-6995-RI&s_ecprodtype=RENEW-A-R&s_trackval=&s_siteloc=&s_referrer=&s_subterm=Subscription%20until%3A%2007%2F13%2F2016&s_docsbal=%20&s_subexpires=07%2F13%2F2016&s_docstart=&s_docsleft=&s_docsread=&s_username=sfick29403@att.net&s_accountid=AC0113061420484320982&s_upgradeable=no | title=Do You Know Your Charleston? | work=News and Courier | date=May 24, 1937 | accessdate=April 2, 2016 | location=Charleston, South Carolina | pages=10}} {{coord|32.778910|-79.934833|display=title}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Porcher, Philip, House}} 1 : Houses in Charleston, South Carolina |
