BoundariesThe constituency encompasses Nazirpur, Pirojpur Sadar, and Nesarabad upazilas.[2][3] HistoryThe constituency was created in 1984 from the Bakerganj-14 constituency when the former Bakerganj District was split into four districts: Bhola, Bakerganj, Jhalokati, and Pirojpur. Ahead of the 2008 general election, the Election Commission redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the 2001 Bangladesh census.[4] The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency.[5] Ahead of the 2014 general election, the Election Commission swapped Zianagar Upazila from Pirojpur-1 to Pirojpur-2, and Nesarabad Upazila from Pirojpur-2 to Pirojpur-1.[3][7] Members of ParliamentElectionsElections in the 2010sAKMA Awal was re-elected unopposed in the 2014 general election after opposition parties withdrew their candidacies in a boycott of the election.[11] Elections in the 2000s{{Election box begin | title=General Election 2008: Pirojpur-1[2][13][14]}}{{Election box candidate with party link||party = Bangladesh Awami League |candidate = AKMA Awal |votes = 101,710 |percentage = 48.8 |change = +8.9 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami |candidate = Delwar Hossain Sayeedi |votes = 94,714 |percentage = 45.5 |change = -11.7 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Jatiya Party (Ershad) |candidate = Mostafa Jamal Haider |votes = 8,406 |percentage = 4.0 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Jatiya Party (Manju) |candidate = Md.
