释义 |
Pittendreich Mill was powered by water[5] from the Black Burn until the early 1900s when it was converted to oil. Later conversions included electricity. The mill would process meal, flour, and barley, with a kiln used to dry oats which would then be milled into oatmeal. The mill closed in the 1930s[6] After several years of disuse, the mill was converted into a home in 1976.[6] The kiln now served as a chimney, with one mill-stone acting as a lounge feature and the other embedded in a grassy bank outside the property. More recently, the property was offered for sale in December 2006 and again in September 2017.[7] {{coord|57.634444|-3.3481736|display=title}}References1. ^The Northern Scot and Moray & Nairn Express’ February 15, 1913 2. ^Statistical Accounts of Scotland 3. ^RMS, ii, 984 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.douglashistory.co.uk/history/families/douglas_of_pittendreich.htm|title=Douglas of Pittendreich|website=www.douglashistory.co.uk}} 5. ^Jim Woodward-Nutt, Aberdeenshire Watermill Survey, mill no. 38/441 6. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/domesday/dblock/GB-316000-861000/page/11|title=PITTENDREICH MILL.|website=domesday}} 7. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.cclproperty.com/property-details/4473562/moray/elgin/pluscarden-road|title=Pittendreich Mill, Pluscarden Road, Elgin, Moray, 4 bedroom, Detached|first=CCL|last=Property|website=CCL Group Ltd}} 3 : Elgin, Moray|Buildings and structures in Moray|Grinding mills in the United Kingdom |
