|}} Plectranthus fruticosus, the forest spurflower, is a species of flowering plant in the mint family Lamiaceae, native to South Africa. Growing up to {{convert|2|m|ft|abbr=on}} tall, it is an erect evergreen shrub, with rounded, hairy leaves, and spikes of soft blue or mauve flowers in summer. The Latin specific epithet fruticosus means “shrubby”.[2] This plant is found throughout the Western Cape and Limpopo regions, enjoying the moist conditions and dappled shade of forest margins.[3] It has a long history of cultivation in Europe, where it requires protection from freezing temperatures. Several cultivars are available, of which the pink-flowered ‘James’ has won the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.[4][5] References1. ^{{cite web | url= http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl1.1/record/kew-158099| title = Plectranthus fruticosus L'Hér. | publisher= The Plant List | accessdate = 2 May 2018}} 2. ^{{cite book | last=Harrison |first=Lorraine | title=RHS Latin for Gardeners | year=2012 |publisher=Mitchell Beazley | location=United Kingdom | isbn=184533731X }} 3. ^{{cite web | url = https://www.theplantlibrary.co.za/Plants/Plectranthus-fruticosus| title = Plectranthus fruticosus | publisher = The Plant Library | accessdate = 3 May 2018}} 4. ^{{cite web | url = https://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/166961/i-Plectranthus-fruticosus-i-James/Details| title = RHS Plantfinder - Plectranthus fruticosus | accessdate = 2 May 2018}} 5. ^{{cite web | url = https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/pdfs/agm-lists/agm-ornamentals.pdf | title = AGM Plants - Ornamental | date = July 2017 | page = 79 | publisher = Royal Horticultural Society | accessdate = 2 May 2018}} 2 : Flora of the Cape Provinces|Plectranthus |
