The film is based on the life of Narendra Modi, the 14th Prime Minister of India; starring Vivek Oberoi in the lead role who is also credited as co-writer of the film. ProductionCastingIn casting process Paresh Rawal was selected to play Narendra Modi[9][10] but later he dropped out of the project;[11] soon after, Vivek Oberoi was selected to play the role.[12] FilmingFilming began on 27 January 2019 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.[13] Some vital scenes in the film chronicling Modi's early life and political journey was filmed in Uttarkashi district. Final schedule of filming was held at Mumbai.[14] Vivek was injured during the shoot while doing a scene in Uttarkashi.[15] ReleaseThe film is scheduled to be released worldwide on 5 April 2019 after having its release moved up by a week from 12 April.[16] The release date was later pushed to 11 April 2019.[2] NSUI Goa, the student wing of Congress Party, has written to Election Commission to ban the screening of the film claiming it violates the model code of conduct of elections.[17] Election Commission cleared the release, saying the film has not violated the model code of conduct.
