Along with the beaches of Sesimbra, Portinho da Arrábida and Costa da Caparica, it is one of the most popular beaches of the Península de Setúbal subregion. Being located in a bay, Albarquel has a scenic view over Tróia (a peninsula extending around the bay). Sea life includes plenty of dolphins, sea horses, periwinkles, and numerous species of fish.
