He worked as a civil engineer with the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority prior to entering politics. He is a Christian and married with six children.[5] Career and politicsAbongo was the Upper East Regional Minister.[6] In February 2009, he was appointed Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing by President Mills.
