Projet de communauté philosophe (translated as Project for a Philosophical Community) is a book written by the French philosopher Victor d'Hupay, published in 1777. ReviewThis book can be seen as a cornerstone in the history of communism, as it describes for the first time how "communists" (people living in a "commune") should understand this philosophy. In this work, the author advises to "share all economic and material products between inhabitants of the 'commune', so that all may benefit from everybody's work".[1] Restif de la Bretonne, a contemporary and friend of d'Hupay, thus describes him as a "communist" in a 1785 publication.[2][3]The book was partly written in d'Hupay's own bastide in Meyreuil, near Aix-en-Provence, where he was determined to set his own commune and live by the communist philosophy, with neighbours and friends.[4] Additional informationThere is currently only one known public copy of this original edition, which is kept at the Diderot Library in Lyon.[5] References1. ^Cassely, 2016 : Aix insolite et secrète JonGlez {{pp.|192-193}} (references from the Bibliothèque nationale de France) 2. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.hupay.fr/ |title=Archived copy |accessdate=2017-03-08 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20170131191812/http://www.hupay.fr/ |archivedate=2017-01-31 |df= }} 3. ^Grandjonc Jacques,1983: Quelques dates à propos des termes communiste et communisme In: Mots, n°7, Octobre 1983 {{p.|146}} (reference on the Persée library) 4. ^http://www.hupay.fr/pages/vie-d-hupay.html 5. ^http://www.worldcat.org/title/projet-de-communaute-philosophe/oclc/491640865&referer=brief_results External links
