HabitatIt grows in Atlantic forest and rain-forest. TaxonomyPsittacanthus brasiliensis was first described by Desrousseaux in 1792 as Loranthus brasiliensis,[13][14] and in 1834, Don assigned it to the new genus Psittacanthus.[1][2]EtymologyPsittacanthos comes from the Greek psittakos (parrot), and the Greek anthos (flower), possibly chosen, according to Don[2], because of the bright colours. The specific epithet, brasiliensis, is the Latin for of Brazil (genitive singular case).[18]References1. ^1 2 {{cite web|url=http://www.ipni.org/ipni/idPlantNameSearch.do?id=551345-1|title=IPNI: Psittacanthus brasiliensis|publisher=International Plant Names Index|accessdate=25 May 2018}} 2. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.ipni.org/ipni/idPlantNameSearch.do?id=143680-2|title=IPNI: Loranthus brasiliensis|publisher=International Plant Names Index|accessdate=25 May 2018}} 3. ^1 2 Govaerts, R. et. al. 2018. {{cite web|url=http://plantsoftheworldonline.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:551345-1|title=Plants of the World online: Psittacanthus brasiliensis|publisher=Board of Trustees of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew|accessdate=20 May 2018}} 4. ^1 Desrousseaux, L.A.J. 1792.
