In 2006 A.D., he had held talk with Girija Prasad Koirala to opt out position of COAS for Rookmangud Katawal. [2] Later, Rookmangud succeeded Thapa. He was summoned by Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority for abusing government funds during People's Movement-II (Jana Aandolan-II).[3] He was criticized oppressing pro-democracy agitators.[4] He was accused of excessing security forces that resulted in killing of 21 people during the protest.[5] Later, he took initiative to negotiate with Seven Party Alliance (SPA) to stop agitation.[6] He is connected to Gaekwad dynasty by marriage of his daughter Pragyashree Thapa to former King of Baroda Pratap Singh Rao Gaekwad's grandson, Pratapsinh Sangramsinh Gaekwad.[7][8] References1. ^https://thehimalayantimes.com/opinion/tht-10-years-ago-katuwal-gets-promotion-will-new-coas/ 2. ^http://nepalitimes.com/news.php?id=12316#.V_oKwsvA7qA 3. ^https://thehimalayantimes.com/opinion/tht-10-years-ago-ciaa-summons-ex-coas-general-pyar-jung-thapa/ 4. ^http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4782883.stm 5. ^http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/5223082.stm 6. ^http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-opinion/nepal-army-chief-helped-convince-gyanendra/article3153357.ece 7. ^http://www.dnaindia.com/entertainment/report-mumbai-s-most-eligible-bachelor-pratap-gaekwad-to-wed-in-nepal-1024992 8. ^http://www.godawards.com/news/princess-of-baroda-receives-the-asias-royal-woman-of-the-year-at-the-3rd-god-awards-at-the-un External links{{s-start}}{{s-mil}}|-{{s-bef|before=Prajwalla Shamsher J.B.
