ProductionThe Historic Chatham Dockyard, Kent doubled as streets of Victorian London. It was also used as the location of the apothecary and bareknuckle boxing fight featured in the series.[11] Critical responseThe series has received positive reviews, with many critics comparing it with Blackadder.[6] The first episode, which aired on BBC 2 at 10pm on 15 August 2017,[12] received positive reviews from The Independent and The Guardian.[13] Critics like Gerard Gilbert praised the series' originality, and particularly the performance of Lydia Leonard and Rupert Everett.[14] Radio Times noted the similarities to Monty Python and Blackadder, and praised the scriptwriters' ability to weave the series' surreal humour with anecdotes of bizarre real historical events.[15][16] Reviews generally remained favourable by the time the final series episode aired, with Paul Simper of The Sun particularly enjoying the characters' over-the-top behaviour,[17] and Sean O'Grady of The Independent calling for a second series.[18] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.chortle.co.uk/review/2017/08/15/37500/quacks |title=TV preview : Quacks | author=Steve Bennett |date= 15 August 2017 |website=Chortle}} 2. ^{{IMDB title|tt5559878|Quacks}} 3. ^{{cite news |last=Lawrence |first=Ben |date=2017-08-16 |title=Quacks is a medical comedy in need of serious surgery - review |url=https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2017/08/16/quacks-medical-comedy-need-serious-surgery-review/ |work=The Telegraph |location= |access-date=2017-09-11 }} 4. ^1 {{IMDB title|tt7016290|The Bishops Appendix}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7016284/fullcredits|title="Quacks" The Madmans Trial (TV Episode 2017)|publisher=|accessdate=17 June 2018|via=www.imdb.com}} 6. ^1 {{IMDB title|tt7016286|The Indian Mesmerist}} 7. ^On The Box 8. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.tvguide.co.uk/detail/2778073/130555779/quacks|title=TV Guide|publisher=|accessdate=17 June 2018}} 9. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.pogdesign.co.uk/cat/Quacks/Season-1/Episode-3|title=The Madman’s Trial Summary: Quacks Season 1, Episode 3 Episode Guide and Schedule: Track your favourite TV shows|website=TV Calendar|accessdate=17 June 2018}} 10. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0596kln | work=BBC | title=Indian Mesmerist on BBC Website}} 11. ^{{cite web |author=Kent Film Office |url=https://kentfilmoffice.co.uk/2017/08/quacks-2017/ |title=Kent Film Office Quacks Article}} 12. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.beyondthejoke.co.uk/content/4348/quacks-bbc2|title=Quacks, BBC2|date=15 August 2017|website=Beyond The Joke|accessdate=17 June 2018}} 13. ^1 {{cite newspaper | url=https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2017/aug/12/quacks-medical-comedy-will-have-you-stitches-rory-kinnear |title=Quacks: a medical comedy that will have you in stitches |newspaper=The Guardian |author=Fiona Sturges |date=12 August 2017}} 14. ^{{cite newspaper | url=https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/quacks-one-of-the-most-original-new-tv-shows-of-the-year-bbc2-rupert-everett-rory-kinnear-mathew-a7883011.html |newspaper=The Independent |title=Quacks: Surely one of the most original new TV shows of the year |author=Gerard Gilbert |date=8 August 2017 }} 15. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.cultbox.co.uk/features/previews/quacks-bbc-twos-hilarious-medical-comedy-from-rev-creator | title=Quacks: BBC Two’s hilarious medical comedy from Rev creator | date= 14 August 2017 | author=Caroline Preece | website=Cultbox}} 16. ^1 2 {{cite magazine |url=http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-08-15/quacks-is-a-cutting-edge-historical-comedy-to-rival-blackadder/ |title=Quacks is a cutting edge historical comedy to rival Blackadder | author=Thomas Ling |date=15 August 2017 |magazine=Radio Times |publisher=Immediate Media Company}} 17. ^{{cite newspaper | url=https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/4208836/here-are-10-reasons-not-to-miss-quacks-the-bbcs-bawdy-comedy-about-victoria-medical-pioneers/ | newspaper=The Sun | author=Paul Simper | date= 15 August 2017 | title= Bad medicine: Here are 10 reasons not to miss Quacks, the BBC’s bawdy comedy about Victorian medical pioneers}} 18. ^{{cite newspaper | url=https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/tv-review-quacks-bbc-2-rupert-everetts-animated-hernia-a7944311.html | title=TV review, Quacks (BBC2): Rupert Everett's animated hernia | author=Sean O'Grady | date=19 September 2017 | newspaper=The Independent}} External links
