Radio Cook Islands was established in the 1970s by the Government of the Cook Islands.[1] The station was privatized in 1996, but reverted to government control in December 1998.[1] In March 1999, Elijah Communications acquired the station from the government.[1] Elijah Communications introduced new programming, as well as reformed the station's finances, by 2000.[1] Radio Cook Islands broadcasts in both Cook Islands Māori and English. The late broadcaster Tony Hakaoro hosted the popular afternoon talk show, "Karangaranga," on the station.[2] References1. ^1 2 3 4 5 {{cite news |first=|last=|title=About Radio Cook Islands |url=http://www.radio.co.ck/index.htm |work=Radio Cook Islands |publisher= |date= |accessdate=2017-09-16}} 2. ^{{cite news |first=|last=|title=Popular Cook Islands radio broadcaster dies |url=http://www.radionz.co.nz/international/pacific-news/338774/popular-cook-islands-radio-broadcaster-dies |work=Radio New Zealand International |publisher=2017-09-06 |date= |accessdate=2017-09-16}} External links
