The boat was built by Ranger Yachts and Lear Siegler in the United States from 1980 until 1982. Only a small number were completed. The design is out of production.[1][2][3] The Ranger 26-2 design is not related to the Ranger 26 design, that was designed by Mull 1969.[1] DesignThe Ranger 26-2 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a fractional sloop rig, an internally-mounted spade-type rudder and a lifting fin keel. It displaces {{convert|3000|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}}. The boat has a draft of {{convert|4.75|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the retractable keel in the fully down position.[1][2] The boat has a PHRF racing average handicap of 186 with a high of 201 and low of 159.
