}}Raymond Garfield Gettell (March 4, 1881 – October 9, 1949) was an American football coach and political science professor.[1] He served as the head football coach at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut from 1908 to 1913 and at Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts from 1917 to 1920, compiling a career college football coaching record of 51–20–6.[2] Gettell was also a professor of political science at Amherst.[3] He was the head of the political science department at the University of California, Berkeley for 26 years before his death on October 9, 1949.[4]
