Launched and (up until 1881) edited by Fyodor Miller, it specialized in humour and caricatures, but also contained a large and popular literary section. Among its regular contributors were Boris Almazov, Vladimir Dal, Alexander Levitov, Dmitry Minayev, caricaturist Lavr Belyankin.
