}}Redthread is a medium sized youth work charity based in London that supports young people aged 11–25 in their personal and social development. Redthread was founded in 1995 in Dulwich, but now operates across London.[1] Redthread’s services•The Well Centre - In partnership with Herne Hill Group Practice, the Well Centre provides young people, aged 13–20, with drop in access to youth workers, GPs and CAMHS counsellors.[2] The Well Centre team also runs outreach programmes at local schools and colleges, and runs the Diabetes Transition Team.[3] •Youth Violence Intervention Programme (YVIP) – The YVIP is run in London Major Trauma Centres, King’s College Hospital, St Mary's Hospital and St George's Hospital providing support to young victims of serious violence from across London.[4] Also embedded in the Major Trauma Centres are Redthread's Independent Domestic Violence Advocate's supporting young people who are victims of domestic violence and child sexual exploitation. •London Gang Exit- In partnership with Safer London and Only Connect, London Gang Exit provides support to 16-24 year olds who are gang-involved or gang-affiliated from across London.[5] Notable recognitionRedthread’s Youth Violence Intervention Programme (YVIP) was commended in the Home Office’s Modern Crime Prevention Strategy as a case of best practice in reaching young people who have been affected by violence, at a ‘Teachable Moment’.[6] Then Mayor of London, Boris Johnson commented on Redthread’s YVIP saying that “These specialist workers, at the emergency frontline, are helping to break the cycle of reoffending, offer young people the support they need to seek a way out of violent lifestyles and making London safer for everyone.[7]” Redthread won the Youth Work Award and the Children and Young People’s Charity Award at the 2013 Children and Young People Now Awards. It received High Commendation for the Partnership Working Award for its work with King’s College Hospital.[8] Redthread was shortlisted for The Centre for Social Justice Awards in 2015 and was a finalist in the GSK IMPACT Awards in 2016.[9][10] External links
