Nowadays it is an object of cultural heritage.[1][2] The building is located on 32/24 Pushkinskaya Street. HistoryThe north side of the Cathedral Square was originally occupied by the Material Yard, where warehouses, workshops were located and their employees lived. The site for the construction of a house for the policemen of the Palace Police with their families was chosen on the right side of the abolished Material Yard. The need for construction arose due to the fact that the court stayed in Tsarskoe Selo for at least 6 months per year, so for the palace police constantly had to rent apartments in different houses. On the instructions of the Governor of the Tsarskoye Selo Palace, the construction was carried out by the architect A. R. Bach. The construction was paid for by the Ministry of the Imperial Court. The house was solemnly laid on July 20, 1899, by the summer of 1901 the works were finished. Since the 1920s, the house was transferred to the students hostel of the Agricultural Institute. In July 1924, the building housed a student literary circle, where Sergei Esenin repeatedly visited. He remained a hostel until 1997, when the reconstruction began many years ago, the building still belongs to the St. Petersburg State Agrarian University.[3][4] ArchitectureA large four-storey building is decorated in eclectic style. In total, the house housed 70 apartments, it was supplied with electricity, central heating, lift, mechanical ventilation. In the basement was a laundry. In the building there were mosaic floors, terrazzo slabs were supplied by the firm "Brothers Botta".[3][4] References1.
