释义 |
Reina was a high school star at John Jay High School, winning the 1985 Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in the record time of 14:36. That time remains the Balboa Park course record, after most of the greatest high school athletes have run on the same course.[3] Highlight {{YouTube|NhpDLTuSpcU}} He was also a seven time UIL Texas state champion, winning the mile and 2 mile events his last three years of high school, plus winning the state cross country title weeks before winning the Footlocker national championship.[4][5] He earned a scholarship to the University of Arkansas where he won back to back NCAA championships in the indoor 3000 meters. Arkansas won the indoor team title all four years Reina was with the team, in the midst of a 12 straight year title run. He also achieved a 3:57 mile. After college he ran professionally, winning the USA Cross Country Championships twice, in 1994 and 1996.[6] References1. ^https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/re/reuben-reina-1.html 2. ^https://www.olympic.org/reuben-reina 3. ^http://www.espn.com/blog/high-school/track-and-xc/post/_/id/570/for-26-years-reinas-record-has-held 4. ^https://www.facebook.com/pg/KennySkaer/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1880262585551736 5. ^http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=1345367 6. ^http://www.usatf.org/statistics/USA-Champions/Championship/USA-Cross-Country-(winter-event)/Men.aspx External links{{IAAF|2389}}
