It was released in 2000, through Undecided Records. The album features artwork created by Jacob Bannon. Writing and recording{{Quote|text="In 1994, we started experimenting with this and people [in Boston] would be like what the hell are you doing? We were trying to get really simple, powerful songwriting down, crafting a more experimental, minimalist kind of writing, and it was just a unique approach at the time."|sign=Jacob Bannon|source=[3]}}Writing for the album began in 1994 and soon after became a collection of four track recordings, however the project remained inactive for a number of years. When Converge had about six months of down time as the band searched for a drummer, Jacob Bannon and Ryan Parker found the time to resurrect the project. They entered GodCity Studios with Kurt Ballou in the winter of 1999, to take on the piles of old four track tapes they had. During the sessions, Ballou contributed a great deal to the album material both as an engineer and musician.[4][5]Bannon stated in an interview that many of the songs off Converge's Jane Doe came from Supermachiner, the project was claimed to inspire Jane Doe ReleaseThe original Rise of the Great Machine CD was released by Undecided Records in 2000.[7] In 2004, the album was sold at Converge's You Fail Me 2004 tour, this version of the album was limited to 50 copies.[8] The album was reissued in 2008, released by the E-Vinyl label in France, it was released as a one time pressing as a deluxe double vinyl, limited to 1000 copies.[9] Rust{{Infobox album| name = Rust | type = compilation | artist = Supermachiner | cover = | alt = | released = March 16, 2009 | recorded = | venue = | studio = GodCity,Salem, Massachusetts | genre = | length = 114:44 60:33 (disc 1) 54:11 (disc 2) | label = Deathwish | producer = Kurt Ballou | prev_title = Rise of the Great Machine | prev_year = 2000 | next_title = | next_year = }} Eight years after the release of Rise of the Great Machine, Deathwish Inc. announced the release of Rust, a 30 track double CD that featured remastered versions of the Rise of the Great Machine tracks along with b-sides of forgotten songs and additional audio experiments done by the band.[10] Rust was released on March 16, 2009.[11] Musical style and themeThe music was much different than Bannon's band Converge, having more in common with influences Swans, Bauhaus, and others.[4][5] The lyrical content is built around the rise of technology and the death of the individual.[12] Track listing{{Track listing| all_writing = | all_lyrics = Jacob Bannon | all_music = Supermachiner | title1 = Rise of the Great Machine | length1 = 2:31 | title2 = Flight of Vultures | length2 = 0:44 | title3 = I Am Legend | length3 = 4:31 | title4 = Declaration One | length4 = 2:12 | title5 = Above You | length5 = 1:11 | title6 = The War We'll Never Win | length6 = 2:58 | title7 = Vicious Circles | length7 = 1:04 | title8 = By the Roadside | length8 = 6:01 | title9 = I Am Oblivion | length9 = 2:08 | title10 = Treading in the Wake of It All | length10 = 5:15 | title11 = Below You | length11 = 4:03 | title12 = Bitter Cold | length12 = 6:33 | title13 = A New Day | length13 = 1:06 | title14 = A New Loss | length14 = 3:18 | title15 = Fireflies Light the Way | length15 = 4:40 | title16 = Remember My Name | length16 = 4:37 | title17 = A New Precipice Before Us | length17 = 1:18 | title18 = Declaration Two | length18 = 4:11 | title19 = Reign of the Great Machine | length19 = 2:12 | total_length = }}{{Track listing | all_writing = | all_lyrics = | all_music = | collapsed = yes | headline = Rust (disc two) | title20 = Hearts Degrade / We Rust | length20 = 4:19 | total_length = | title21 = Pick Up the Pieces (Driven Version) | length21 = 4:52 | title22 = Diamond Bullet | length22 = 8:29 | title23 = Declaration (Disrupted Version) | length23 = 2:56 | title24 = Slow Is the Pace of Burden | length24 = 7:23 | title25 = Grant Me To the Strength | length25 = 5:02 | title26 = Our Ground Is Sour | length26 = 2:31 | title27 = Memoriale Rituum | length27 = 2:30 | title28 = Avalanche | length28 = 4:36 | title29 = Pick Up the Pieces (Broken Version) | length29 = 4:47 | title30 = End of the Line | length30 = 6:46 }}
