Clients include insurance carriers, self-insured employers, government entities, third party administrators (TPAs) and attorneys. Rising also publishes an annual Workers’ Compensation Benchmarking Study that addresses how claims organizations deal with industry-wide operational challenges.[1] HistoryIn 1996, Rising's CEO, Jason F Beans, started a medical management consulting company called BND Operations. His first client was based in Illinois, prompting Jason to relocate from Massachusetts to the Chicago area. Out of this venture, Rising Medical Solutions was established. Rising was officially incorporated in February 1999 and is now headquartered in downtown Chicago at 325 North LaSalle Street. Rising also has offices in Milwaukee, Phoenix, and Tampa, as well as virtual staff across the US. Combined, Rising employs more than 300 people nationwide.[2][1] ServicesRising provides a suite of services for managing the costs and quality of medical care for workers’ compensation, auto, liability and group health markets. Services include medical bill review, hospital bill review, provider negotiations, case management, utilization review, peer review, independent medical exams, risk modeling and Medicare Set Aside (MSA) administration. Since 1996, Rising staff have also authored the annual Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Medical Fee Schedule.[3] The company frequently provides the public with insight on pressing healthcare matters through various US media outlets including: The Wall Street Journal,[4] Fox Business Network,[5] Chicago Tribune,[6] Smart Business,[1] and Risk & Insurance Magazine.[7][8] In 2013, Rising launched a national workers' compensation study to address the research gap on how claims organizations deal with industry-wide operational challenges. Rising leads the logistical, project management, industry outreach and publication aspects of the study while an independent principal researcher and an advisory council of industry experts guide the focus and ensure compelling research. Now an annual study, the Workers' Compensation Benchmarking Report is a source of quantitative and qualitative research that allows organizations to evaluate priorities, obstacles and strategies amongst their peers.
