Fisher (born June 3, 1925) is an American former politician in the state of Tennessee. He served in the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1975 to 1980, sitting as a Republican.[1][2] In 1980, he was convicted of soliciting a $1,000 bribe from Carter County Sheriff George Papantoniou to kill a state bill the sheriff opposed. Fisher was given a $500 fine and a 30-day suspended sentence and was expelled from the state legislature by a vote of 92–1 (1980), the first legislator in Tennessee to be expelled.[3][4] References1. ^[https://books.google.ca/books?id=VLM6AAAAMAAJ&q=%22June+3,+1925%22+%22Fisher,+Robert+%22&dq=%22June+3,+1925%22+%22Fisher,+Robert+%22&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjJs5L5qIjgAhUVKH0KHVdlAuAQ6AEILTAB] {{DEFAULTSORT:Fisher, Robert}}2. ^ 3. ^Fisher, Robert J., Trial Records, 1979–1980, Representing House District # 4, 4. ^[https://www.newspapers.com/clip/6603293/rep_robert_fisher_is_expelled_from_the/] 4 : Living people|Tennessee Republicans|Members of the Tennessee House of Representatives|1925 births |
