The station was at the junction of the Lehigh Valley's main line and its Rochester Branch, which provided access to Rochester, {{convert|13.2|mi}} to the north.[1][2] The station opened in 1892. This original building remained in use for four years until it was replaced by a larger structure. The Lehigh Valley disassembled the first station and moved it to Lima, New York.[3] Buses replaced trains over the Rochester Branch ended on September 6, 1950.[4] Rochester Junction was one of many stations which lost its passenger service on May 12, 1959, when the Lehigh Valley eliminated 60% of its remaining passenger trains, including all but one round-trip west of Lehighton, Pennsylvania.[5][6] The Lehigh Valley continued to use the building for storage until a fire destroyed it on April 22, 1973.[7] A local Boy Scout troop constructed a replica of the freight house on the former station site in 2013.[8] Notes1. ^{{Official Guide of the Railways|March|1950|page=149}} 2. ^{{Harvnb|Chait|2015|p=72}} 3. ^{{Harvnb|Leavy|2002|p=64}} 4. ^{{cite news|title=Lehigh Train Rolls Away, for Good |url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/22521704/lehigh_train_rolls_away_for_good/|newspaper=Democrat and Chronicle|date=September 7, 1950|page=25|via = Newspapers.com|accessdate = August 5, 2018 }} {{free access}} 5. ^{{Harvnb|Archer|1977|pp=274–275}} 6. ^{{cite news|title=Famed Train Ends Its Runs |url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/22521831/famed_train_ends_its_runs/|newspaper=Democrat and Chronicle|date=May 12, 1959|page=22|via = Newspapers.com|accessdate = August 5, 2018 }} {{free access}} 7. ^{{cite news|title=Fire Razes Old Station |url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/22522246/fire_razes_old_station/|newspaper=Democrat and Chronicle|date=April 23, 1973|page=13|via = Newspapers.com|accessdate = August 5, 2018 }} {{free access}} 8. ^{{cite news|last=Taddeo | first=Sarah | title=Boy Scout sees train station project finished |url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/22521049/boy_scout_sees_train_station_project/|newspaper=Democrat and Chronicle|date=August 1, 2013|page=B3|via = Newspapers.com|accessdate = August 5, 2018 }} {{free access}} References
